Over the next couple of days we will be outlining a number of ways in which you can leverage your ads to their full potential.

There’s no need reaching the wide audience of whatever platform you choose to use to advertise your online presence if you will only present to them drab and unattractive ads that no one will click on.
Following up on our previous posts about banner ads; click here if you missed it, its important we talk about the separate elements of an ad.
What is the call to action button?

“Words that urge the reader, listener, or viewer of a sales promotion message to take an immediate action, such as “Write Now,” “Call Now,” or (on Internet) “Click Here.” A retail advertisement or commercial without a call-to-action is considered incomplete and ineffective.” (Business Dictionary)

When designing an ad it is important that you first of all have a call to action button. And this must have a certain number of characteristics that make them most effective

• It must be clear and instil a sense of urgency with the user. It must present a rewards system, gotten from the other elements in the ad that will prompt the user to actually click on your ads

• Size and position. It is important that your call to action button is properly sized and positioned within your ad. Enough space should be allowed around it by not crowding it with elements, and research shows that a call to action button with rounded corners is usually most effective

• Colour. Your call to action element- whether in the form of words or a clickable button should be properly contrasted against the background of your ads. Colours must be properly selected to ensure that the call to action button is easily visible without a strain on your audience.
